ThermalWise performed whole-building air leakage testing at 125 Julius Boulevard in Halifax, NS. The purpose of this testing was to determine the building’s air leakage rate, supporting the building’s future ZCB Performance Certification. 

Testing was performed in general conformance with ASTM E-3158 using the multi-point procedure. The building was prepared in such a manner to test the building envelope per the standard.

Government of Canada Building | Moncton, NB

ThermalWise was contracted by Public Services and Procurement Canada to conduct forensic water infiltration testing of installed curtain wall products located at the Government of Canada Building located in Moncton, NB. The specimens were located on the Main Street elevation, directly above the entry door. Building managers indicated that water infiltration was occurring during certain rain fall events in these areas of the curtain wall.  

Testing, conducted in general accordance with AAMA 501.2, as well as ASTM E1105, was completed with the intention to identify possible areas of water infiltration.  

AAMA 501.2 testing is intended to provide quality assurance and diagnostic field water penetration checks for installed storefronts, curtain walls and sloped glazing systems. The field check procedure is intended to evaluate joints, gaskets and sealant details in the glazing which are designed to be permanently closed and watertight.   

ASTM E1105 testing is intended to determine the resistance of installed exterior windows and curtain walls to water penetration when water is applied to the outdoor face and exposed edges simultaneously with static air pressure at the outdoor face higher than the pressure at the indoor face. The pressure difference is intended to simulate wind driven rain pressures.

ThermalWise was contracted by NSCC to complete a thermal imaging investigation of the newly constructed NSCC Sydney Waterfront Campus in Sydney, Nova Scotia. The campus is comprised of four interconnected buildings (Blocks A, B, C & D). ThermalWise conducted scans of the buildings while pressurizing and depressurising the buildings, to investigate for areas of potential air leakage and thermal bridging in the building envelope.
