ThermalWise does not provide Home Energy Assessments in Cape Breton.
ThermalWise also provides Home Energy Assessments in New Brunswick and Newfoundland according their provincial and federal guidelines.

The following homes are eligible in Nova Scotia:
Single-family homes
Semi-detached homes (i.e. side by side duplexes)
Side-by-side row homes (i.e. townhouses)
Year-round cottages
Mobile homes on a permanent foundation
Homes with a secondary unit
Multi-Unit Residential Buildings, 6 units or less
Secondary homes are eligible for the provincial Home Energy Assessment (HEA) rebate program but not the Federal Greener Homes grant or loan program.

New homes constructed under 6 months ago are not eligible for the program.

This includes siding and drywall.

For upgrades to be eligible for Efficiency Nova Scotia's Home Energy Assessment program, retrofit purchases and installation must take place after the date of the initial home energy assessment.

STEP 1
If your home is eligible, book your pre-retro fit Home Energy Assessment with ThermalWise.
STEP 2
One of our energy advisors will come to your home and give you your custom recommendations.
STEP 3
Plan your upgrades according to your recommendations and complete within 12 months.
STEP 4
Book your post-retro fit assessment with ThermalWise to assess the changes.
STEP 5
You will receive your provincial rebates within 90 days.

Your initial cost for an energy assessment is $199.00.

Your energy advisor will email or mail your results within 2 weeks.

Receipts must be collected for all work completed both by a contractor or for materials used if completed by the homeowner.
Receipts must show the work has been paid for in full at the time of the final assessment and must meet Efficiency Nova Scotia's Invoice Guidelines on page 23 of the HEA rebate guide.
If Windows or Doors are being upgraded, leave stickers on the window until the final assessment. Invoices must list individual windows installed.
Take photographs of any upgrades that may be hidden at the time of the final assessment, like insulation upgrades.
Keep receipts for seven years.

The last day to apply for the Canada Greener Homes Loan is October 1, 2025.
The Canada Greener Homes Loan (CGHL) has been successful in offering homeowners interest-free repayable loans for energy-efficient home upgrades throughout Canada. As a result, the program’s funding will soon be fully allocated, and the application portal will be closed effective October 2, 2025.
The Canada Greener Homes Loan was an interest-free loan that of up to $40,000 with a repayment term of 10 years, open to homeowners who have completed an eligible pre-retrofit assessment. -
Homeowners were eligible for the Greener Homes interest-free loan program if they had completed a pre-retrofit home energy assessment for a home that is their primary residence and submitted their loan application prior to October 2, 2025.
